Creating a Service Area
Step-by-step:
Step 1: Click on the Team Management tab in the navigation on the left-hand side of the page.
Step 2: In the sub-navigation, click the Team Members tab.
Step 3: In your list of Team Members, click the Service Area icon to launch the Service Areas drawer. You can also click the ellipses icon for the Team Member and select 'Configure Service Area' to launch the Service Areas drawer.
Step 4: Click the 'Add a Service Area' button in the upper right-hand corner of the Service Areas drawer.
Step 5: In the Service Area Name field, add a name that will clearly indicate what this service area is. Example - Home Area.
Step 6: When creating a Service Area, you can choose how the coverage area should be calculated and displayed on the map. In the Type of Service Area drop-down, choose the type of service area that you would like to create.
Driving Distance Area
The Driving Distance Area option creates a Service Area based on actual driving distance and road travel routes. This provides a more realistic service boundary by accounting for roads, highways, terrain, and travel accessibility rather than straight-line distance.
This option is ideal for businesses that want travel calculations to more accurately reflect real-world driving conditions.
Basic Radius
The Basic Radius option creates a simple circular Service Area around a selected location using a straight-line radius distance. This method does not account for road systems or driving routes. Think of it "as the crow flies."
This option is useful for quickly creating simple coverage areas or approximate service regions.
Step 7: In the Distance field, enter the distance (in miles) that you want this Service Area to expand.
Step 8: If you would like to charge a flat rate travel fee for this Service Area, enter in a Base Rate. Any order placed in this area will have that Base Rate travel fee automatically applied to the order.
Step 9: If you would like to charge a per mile rate travel fee for this Service Area, enter in a Per Mile rate. Any order placed in this area will automatically apply a travel fee to the order that is the per mile rate multiplied by the distance to the shoot from the Team Member's home. Note: this is a one-way travel fee. If you would like to charge round-trip, double the amount of your per mile rate.
Step 10: If there are days that you do not want the Team Member to be available in this Service Area, unclick those days in the Serviceable Days section. Any days selected, the Team Member will be available for bookings (based on their calendar availability)
Step 11: By default, Team Members receive 90% of the travel fee as a payout to them. You can override this by entering a set dollar amount in the Payout Override field.
Step 12: Once the Service Area is completely configured, click the 'Add' button to create the Service Area.
